Racing fever under the floodlights
The later the evening, the better the racing: That is the motto for Thursday’s twilight meeting at Straubing – including two races offering Trifecta and Superfecta betting.

Race 1:
A proper warm-up in chilly conditions, and Magicblue looks to have a very workable assignment after showing real fighting spirit in her latest success. The returning Benedictus is a classy rival but may still need the run after a break. Pamira and Great Darkness Fire appear best of the rest for minor placings.
Our pick:
(2) Magicblue – (3) Benedictus – (4) Pamira
Race 2:
Another strong chance for the in-form Gramüller stable. Pearl Newport delivered an eye-catching comeback and clearly has bigger plans this season. Undine Magic, now with a new trainer, is strongly recommended as a danger. Anything can happen for third.
Our pick:
(4) Pearl Newport – (2) Undine Magic – (5) Wikileaks
Race 3:
A tricky race with several classy horses carrying question marks. Vinland, retrospectively disqualified last time, gets the nod here. If Braxxton stays calm, he can be a serious threat. Donna des Bois has the talent to surprise with a clean trip.
Our pick:
(3) Vinland – (1) Braxxton – (8) Donna des Bois
Race 4:
Dr. Conny Schulz again has strong cards. Indy is a powerful Booster Winner-son and the one to beat if he behaves. Chantielle impressed last time and would be no shock winner. Crema di Nocci could make her comeback count.
Our pick:
(4) Indy – (6) Chantielle – (7) Crema di Nocci
Race 5:
Time to attack the Superfecta. Mercedes AMG was convincing in victory and must primarily fend off Louis d’Or. Marilyn Boko would be a clear favorite on peak form. Sly can score if trotting smoothly, while Kador du Choquel needs the right trip.
Our pick:
(3) Mercedes AMG – (4) Louis d’Or – (10) Marilyn Boko – (7) Sly
Race 6:
Several contenders are required here. Forrest Big Effe impressed last time and deserves favorite status. However, Tampa Bay continues to thrive in his new surroundings. Fly Home caused a positive surprise last time, while Unfinished Business fought bravely despite covering extra ground.
Our pick:
(2) Forrest Big Effe – (1) Tampa Bay – (9) Fly Home – (10) Unfinished Business
Race 7:
A potentially hot duel. Eberhard Truppo is in top form and may finally get his reward. Standing in his way is former serial winner Victory Ares. Lambo Fortuna hinted at form and is well placed with the apprentice, while Early Love is a Trifecta candidate.
Our pick:
(6) Eberhard Truppo – (5) Victory Ares – (1) Lambo Fortuna
Race 8:
The amateur contest calls for broader coverage. Breeding of Hanke brings the strongest class credentials. Reine des Neiges is thriving form-wise, while Perceval finds a much easier task. Stepstone is proven in this company, and Veyron Bros could spice things up at a price.
Our pick:
(6) Breeding of Hanke – (3) Reine des Neiges – (8) Perceval
Race 9:
A real highlight to close the card. Track record holder Desiderio faces Germany’s Horse of the Year 2025, Ocean Eyes. Bavarian debutant D Day AS is very intriguing, while the tough old warrior Miramax BR can still grab a podium finish.
Our pick:
(1) Desiderio – (2) Ocean Eyes – (3) D Day AS
