For our english speaking friends (13th May)
The birthday guests are arriving
125 years of harness racing in Straubing – PMU evening meeting with V6 and Trifecta Jackpot
While the Victorian era came to an end in England, the first Nobel Prize was awarded and the first transatlantic radio signal succeeded, Straubing celebrated a milestone of its own: the opening of the harness racing track in 1901. Almost exactly 125 years later, on May 13, the historic oval in the south of Straubing celebrates its anniversary with an outstanding card. A large and competitive field of runners ensures plenty of “birthday guests” on track. There’s also a trifecta jackpot of €1,138.50 awaits bettors in Race 7.

Race 1
An interesting newcomer debuts in Delmonica Reina, handled by Stefan Hiendlmeier. The daughter of classy French mare Desiree Star impressed in qualification and immediately rates one of the leading chances. M Eck Gyver with Christoph Schwarz in the bike is knocking on the door after a strong latest effort and looks the main danger. Madison Square and Gri Sixtysix appear best of the rest for minor honors.
Our Pick:
M Eck Gyver (7) – Delmonica Reina (1) – Madison Square (4)
Race 2
After Dark Diamant goes to post as a standout favorite for Josef Franzl. The son of Indigious looks very hard to deny in this company. Allegro Byd is always a force when trotting fluently, while Kikuyu TU comes here off a solid effort in Daglfing. Othello Venus has worked his way into sharp form and Onslow Newport also has claims for a placing.
Our Pick:
After Dark Diamant (3) – Allegro Byd (4) – Kikuyu TU (2)
Race 3
Following a maternity break, Dr. Marie Lindinger makes her comeback with Pearl Newport. The mare is not always straightforward but clearly owns top-class ability. Vaiana could seize the lead early and take them all the way. Rozmarin is another reliable performer capable of making his presence felt.
Our Pick:
Vaiana (2) – Pearl Newport (3) – Rozmarin (6)
Race 4
The first PMU feature of the evening is exceptionally well matched and offers both trifecta and superfecta wagering. Despite a strong line-up, Mr Konung once again looks the horse to beat after another sparkling display in Daglfing. He bids to continue his winning streak against classy opposition including Northern Rose, who competed successfully at a high level last season, and the progressive Wyanet, who has started the year in excellent fashion. Aconcagua is much better than recent form figures suggest, while King des Ves remains a serious player after another strong effort behind Mr Konung last time out.
Our Pick:
Mr Konung (8) – Northern Rose (6) – King des Ves (10) – Wyanet (4)
Race 5
Another race featuring trifecta and superfecta betting. The second row starters hold strong claims here. Lumière de Chartres performed with great credit in defeat and rates highly once more. If I Am Jet stays flat throughout, he could emerge as the principal danger. Bandito Diamant impressed in his re-qualification, while Very Good brings solid Ukrainian form into the race. Danilo HS also deserves consideration.
Our Pick:
Lumière de Chartres (11) – I Am Jet (12) – Bandito Diamant (6) – Very Good (5)
Race 6
This handicap event could develop into a clash between the classy Teatox and Lozano Boko, who already holds a track record here. Both runners must overcome a handicap but clearly stand out on ability and are must-haves for the opening leg of the late V3. Breeding of Hanke trains strongly but does not always reproduce it on race day, while Magnum Stone is usually quick into stride and can be dangerous.
Our Pick:
Teatox (9) – Lozano Boko (10) – Magnum Stone (3)
Race 7
The amateur drivers take center stage in this race, which also features the trifecta jackpot. Sokrates looks the key horse and sets the standard. Laith H Boko scored in impressive fashion recently and again has a confident young driver aboard. Lambo Fortuna benefits from experienced hands, while Under a Spell is a major contender if remaining trotting throughout.
Our Pick:
Sokrates (8) – Laith H Boko (2) – Under a Spell (5)
Race 8
The amateur drivers remain in focus for the finale. Victory Ares returns from a break and could make an immediate impact, but Eberhard Truppo appears the one they all have to beat. Belina Times is another serious contender, while Dafna could also play a role from a favorable post position.
Our Pick:
Eberhard Truppo (7) – Victory Ares (6) – Belina Times (5)
